What makes clouds seem like clouds? We know they are made up of just droplets of water, and when we fly through them in planes we can see their true vastness, but even then, sitting on the ground and looking to the sky, they seem light, fluffy, and small. The material nature of clouds betray our perception of it, and is just one example of the many ways we create fictions to understand things that are too far away or too large to really comprehend, turning them into something familiar.
